Kolkata Knight Riders, looking for a head start this season, have unveiled their new logo and new tagline at Mumbai on Monday. The Baadshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the new logo and was at his wittiest best. Co-owners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta along with the CEO of KKR Venky Mysore were also present at the function. Kolkata Knight Riders one of the most expensive teams in the celebrated IPL (Indian Premier League) has thus far failed to make an impression. They were far behind their reputation in the first three seasons under Saurav Ganguly, but were back in contention in the fourth edition of the IPL in 2011. The newer signings last year with Gautham Gambhir as captain has had an impact. It tends to get better as they have managed to bring back McCullum to their team.

Ek Deewana Tha- A Perfect Gift for Valentine’s Day
Gautham Vasudevan Menon is making his way into Bollywood with “Ek Deewana Tha”, the remake of the 2010 Tamil Movie “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya” which was also directed by Gautham Vasudevan Menon. The Tamil movie turned out to be a success at the box office and the movie was also critically acclaimed. The performances of lead artists in “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya” were well appreciated. “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya” had Silambarsan and Trisha in leading roles while the 2012 remake of the movie has Prateik Babbar (son of late actress Smita Patil and actor Raj Babbar) and Amy Jackson (Madrasapattinam fame). The music and background score is composed by AR Rahman. “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya” was a huge success and so was the music. The remake features the same songs which are already chartbusters. The climax of the movie has been changed and will differ from the original.

57th Annual Idea Filmfare Awards; Ranbir, Vidya named the best!
The 57th Filmfare awards were given away on a star studded night at Mumbai on January 29th. Actor Imran Khan lit a lamp at Metropolitan Hotel and Spa marking the beginning of another enchanting journey of felicitating Bollywood’s best. Filmfare awards have been the most prestigious and most popular awards in the Industry for a long time. ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Rockstar’ emerged clear winners at the ceremony. Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan took the top honors with Ranbir being adjudged the Best Actor and the latter adjudged the Best Actress. ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ was adjudged the Best Film for the year 2011. The 57th Filmfare Awards also saw the giving away of the 2500th diamond studded Filmfare trophy, to A R Rahman for his music in Rockstar. The ceremony was hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and King Khan Shahrukh Khan with both sharing same stage for the first time and made the event all the more exciting. The ceremony also had some jitters, when Pyarelal turned down the Lifetime Achievement Award. Eventually only Aruna Irani accepted the award.
Agneepath to hit screens tomorrow
Agneepath is the first major release of Bollywood in the year 2012. The movie is a remake of the 1990 Hindi film of the same name ‘Agneepath’. The 1990 film had Amitabh Bachchan in the leading role giving life to the character ‘Vijay Deenanath Chauhan’ and actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Rohini Hattangadi, and Danny Dengzongpa in other supporting roles. The remake has Hrithik Roshan stepping into the shoes of Mr. Bachchan. The character ‘Kancha Cheena’ played by Danny Dengzongpa in the original movie has been turned over to Sanjay Dutt. The remake also includes Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor, Zarina Wahab and Om Puri as supporting cast. The title ‘Agneepath’ was inspired from a poem written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan’s father. The poem creates a thematic link through the movie.
Amitabh to enact Anna Hazare
Amitabh Bachchan is all set to enact Anna Hazare in his new movie titled “Satyagraha”. He is teaming up with Prakash Jha once again after “Aarakshan”. “Aarakshan” was based on the policy of “Caste based Reservations” on government jobs and educational institutions. So it seems the failure of “Aarakshan” to attract people has not put off Jha from taking the issue of corrupt system in India. Everyone knows what is the most sought after news in India right now thanks to Anna Hazare. So why not make a movie on the subject. And when you have got an actor as big as Mr. Senior Bachchan himself everything seems to be at the right place. Though Jha is reluctant and is rather cautious in revealing more on the movie and states he is still working on the script. He doesn’t want to reveal more on the movie and sources close to him indicates the movie is set to be on the floors by January 2012.
